Green Tour 2010

Interested in energy and water efficiency, solar energy, reducing your garbage or gardening pesticide-free? This year’s Green Tour has something for everyone, including the addition of "how to" talks to get you started after the tour. Learn from others and be inspired to take action at home. Come early to take advantage of all this free self-guided tour has to offer.

Where: Tour starts at Bol Park (Laguna Ave. @ Matadero Ave.) Pick up tour map/guide the day of the tour at the park.

What:

• 12 homes in Barron Park will open to share their green features and practices including solar photovoltaics, solar hot water, native and drought tolerant plants, organic vegetable growing, electric cars and more.
• "How to" talks at four homes. Topics include how to compost, grow organic vegetables, grow native plants, and raise chickens. Talks are at 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. at selected homes on the tour.
• Solar vendors and non-profits will be stationed at Bol Park for information on products and services. Representatives from the City’s environmental programs will be available to answer your questions to help you take advantage of services and rebates.
